IDC-1000Z firmware update procedure for Macintosh

The following is an explanation of how to obtain and upgrade the firmware for IDC-1000Z.
It is advised that you read the complete explanation on this page before beginning the upgrade procedure.

(Caution)

This firmware is designed specifically for IDC-1000Z cameras. Do not use it with other camera models.

Be sure to follow the instructions below exactly to update the firmware.

There is a "Software license agreement" for this firmware. Before downloading, please carefully read the "Software license agreement" below.
By starting the application download procedure, you are signifying your agreement to abide by the terms of the license agreement.
Required environment
The USB interface on your computer is used for the firmware update.
It is not possible to update via the IEEE1394 interface or iD PHOTO disk.

A computer environment that matches the working environment of the software included with your camera is necessary.

A fully recharged special Lithium-ion battery pack or AC adapter is necessary.
Required file download
Please download the both firmware and the software to execute the firmware rewrite.

When the "idshot_update_NTSC.sit" or "idshot_update_PAL.sit" download is executed, the files are automatically extracted. In the event that the files are not automatically extracted, use Stufflt Expander or a compatible utility extract the files.
When the downloaded file is extracted, the uploader folder is created in the location specified on your browser. Two files, "Uploader 1.0" and the firmware file, are created in the folder.

(Caution)
Be sure to execute the download and extraction operations using the hard disk.
Update preparation
1. Driver software installation

If you are using the USB cable to connect your camera to a computer for the first time, it is necessary to first install the USB driver in your computer.(For information about connecting your camera to a computer, please read the Sanyo Software Pack instruction manual.)

For information about how to install the USB driver, please read the Sanyo Software Pack instruction manual ("INSTALLING THE APPLICATION SOFTWARE"). (The USB driver included with the CD-ROM is required.)


2. Connect your camera to the computer.

Set the selector dial to the PC connection mode, connect your camera to the computer, insert the disk in the CD-ROM drive, and press the power button.


It is not possible to update without inserting the disk.

Execute the update (rewrite the firmware)
(Caution)
-
DO NOT remove the battery or disconnect the AC adapter during the update process.
If the power to the camera is interrupted during the update, the update procedure will not be terminated normally, and it may become impossible to start the camera. To prevent a power interruption during the update, use a completely recharged Lithium-ion battery pack or use the AC adapter.

Do not operate the camera buttons or open the disk holder during the update process.

Update procedure

1.Confirm that the selector dial on the camera is set tom]. ([PC-U] is shown on the LCD monitor.)

2.Double-click on the extracted "Uploader.exe" application. The Sanyo firmware uploader is activated.

3.When [Click "Upload" button to start the update.] appears, click on [Upload].



4. [Writing Firmware... DO NOT TURN CAMERA OFF!] is shown. Updating begins.

Do not turn off the camera during the update.

The update process takes 1 or 2 minutes.

5. When "Writing Firmware is complete" appears, click on "Quit".

6. Turn off the camera once, and set the selector dial on the camera to a shooting mode. Turn on the camera again, and confirm that it is working normally.

This completes the update procedure.

If the upload was not successful

If the camera is not connected, "Camera is not connected" is displayed.


(Solution)

Connect the camera.
Confirm that the USB driver software is installed.

- If the firmware is not in the uploader folder, "No Firmware found" is displayed.


(Solution)
- If the firmware is not in the uploader folder, "No Firmware found" is displayed.

- In case there are two firmware files saved in the uploader folder, "Two or more firmwares exist" is displayed.

Keep only the latest firmware file, and delete the other firmware file(s).
